Islamic Review: Jurnal Riset dan Kajian Keislaman is an refereed academic journal published by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) Institut Pesantren Mathali'ul Falah (IPMAFA) Pati, Indonesia. The Journal was published biannually from 2012 (in April and October). is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal dedicated to providing a critical, interdisciplinary platform for scholarly inquiry into Islam and the Islamic tradition. The journal emphasizes the dynamic contextualization of Islamic teachings in response to contemporary global challenges and societal dynamics. We seek to publish rigorous research and critical essays that bridge classical Islamic thought with modern academic discourse.
It publishes articles and research papers in Indonesian and English to seeks to place Islam and the Islamic tradition as its central focus of academic inquiry and to encourage comprehensive consideration of its many facets; to promote the diffusion, exchange and discussion of research findings; and to encourage interaction among academics from various traditions of learning.
The journal’s primary focus areas include (but are not limited to):
- Islamic Thought, Society, and Cultural Heritage: Critical analysis of classical and contemporary Islamic philosophy, Sufism, Islamic psychology, the sociology of Muslim societies, and the cultural heritage of Islam, including its intersection with digitalization and media studies.
- Islamic Law and Governance (Fiqh & Siyasah): Studies on Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) regarding human rights, public policy, minority rights, inter-faith relations, and contemporary issues of statecraft and governance in Muslim-majority and minority contexts.
- Islamic Economics, Finance, and Sustainability: Research exploring Islamic social finance (Zakat, Waqf), halal industry management, economic inequality, and the role of Islamic ethics in environmental sustainability and climate action.
- Local Wisdom and Pesantren Studies: Scholarly works focusing on the role and transformation of Islamic traditional education (Pesantren), local wisdom (KearifanLokal) in Indonesia, and the contribution of Islamic institutions to community development and peacebuilding.
