Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Lisān al-Risālah bilingual guide in developing speaking skills among non-Arabic teachers at Al-Risalah Islamic Institute in Padang.A quasi-experimental design was applied using pre-test and post-test for one group consisting of twenty teachers. The training sessions were conducted based on andragogical principles, including pair conversations, oral presentations, and summarization tasks. Quantitative data were collected through the tests, while qualitative insights were obtained from classroom observations and semi-structured interviews.The results revealed a significant improvement in speaking performance after the training. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test showed a statistically significant difference at the (α = 0.05) level. Qualitative findings also indicated greater confidence and willingness among teachers to use Arabic in classroom contexts. These outcomes demonstrate the guide’s effectiveness in enhancing teachers’ oral communication performance.
