Abstract

This research aims to develop instructional reading materials based on the book At-Tahrir for advanced-level students at Al-Hikmah School, using the theory of Rusydi Ahmad Thuaimah. The study is motivated by the difficulties faced by students in understanding, parsing, and interpreting the content of At-Tahrir. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) method with a 4D model—Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate—the researcher gathered data through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and document analysis. The theory of Rusydi Ahmad Thuaimah emphasizes the principles of validity, naturalness, gradualism, learner motivation, and relevance. The result is the development of a supplementary book titled Miftah At-Tahrir, which includes annotated texts, Indonesian translations, syntactic analyses, and structured exercises. The product was validated by experts and proven effective with an 80.5% effectiveness score in enhancing students’ reading skills and understanding of classical Arabic texts.
